Built circa 1727, Middlebrook Farm is minutes from Wilton Town Center. It reflects rich history with the dimensions and function of a modern home.
It was the town’s tavern from 1734 to 1739. In 1752, the property transitioned to the Middlebrook family, who would live in the home for six generations until 1961. On April 28th 1777, after the Battle of Ridgefield, British troops occupied on the home.
At just over 5,000 square feet, the home has 6 bedrooms and 5 fireplaces.
The main level offers a large living room with fireplace which was once the Tavern. Adjacent is a library with cherry paneling, fireplace and built-ins and a sitting room with fireplace, cherry paneling, built-ins and wide-plank wood flooring.
The dining room boasts columns and diamond-lattice windows. This room was the original kitchen and has an elegant fireplace with a beehive oven. Above the fireplace, is one of the “Preacher’s” cabinets once used to store the Middlebrook’s rum.
Imported from the UK, the kitchen is a masterpiece. Marble and soapstone countertops and top-of-the-line appliances complement the gorgeous cherry wood island.
