This grand home in the heart of Arrow Rock, Missouri's National Historic Landmark village was constructed in 1845 as a home for the J.A.J. Aderton family. The house, built in a transitional style, Federal to Italianate, is balanced with two rooms on each side of a center hall, two identical fireplaces and corbeled chimneys. The quoins adorning the exterior corners set the home apart: today, they are painted white with a soft gray on the rest of the house. Aderton House has undergone a recent major preservation project; making the house more functional for a family with a downstairs bedroom and full bath, dedicated baths for both of the upstairs bedrooms, and a completely reimagined kitchen. This preservation project was done in strict accordance with the National Park Service Historic Preservation Standards and Guidelines. The home boasts 3,000 square feet—three luxury bathrooms and restored fireplaces, plus a powder room and double lot. For the chef in the family, the kitchen has an eight-burner gas range with a double oven and generous counter space. A 12-panel Zuber mural in the west parlor titled “Views of North America" is one of the home's most exquisite features.
