Governor Gina M. Raimondo and the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA) are grateful you are doing your part to keep our communities safe during this unprecedented COVID-19 public health crisis.
Governor Raimondo displayed an image created by artist Shepard Fairey, at her request, to honor first-responders and represent hope. The “R.I. Angel of Hope and Strength” shows a young woman with a red cross on her left lapel and a torch in her right hand — like a winged Rosie the Riveter, crossed with the Statue of Liberty.
“This is for all of Rhode Island,” Raimondo said. “It’s time to be brave. It’s time to be strong.”
These uncertain times have affected so many parts of our lives, including the arts.
The Rhode Island State Council of the Art’s team is working to provide information and resources for artists as well as working to spread the word about experiences for audiences to enjoy from home.
